Program:  Public Recreational Open Space, Amphitheater, Stage / DJ Booth, Green Roof, Music Yard, Street Performance Area, Outdoor Dining Area, Rain Gardens and Water Features

Description:  GCH worked closely with KEXP and SkB Architects on their proposal to redevelop the existing Arcade Pavilion and Fun Forest Area adjacent to the Space Needle. In harmony with Seattle Center’s design guidelines, the unique design incorporates the existing Horiuchi Mural while connecting the new KEXP space with the Center House and Space Needle as well as creating ample open space for outdoor concerts and gatherings. The design response will meet a LEED Silver rating with Sustainability design elements including; adaptive reuse of an existing structure, solar panels, a green roof, an exterior green walls, permeable paving, rain gardens, water features which utilize storm water, native planting, drought tolerant landscape, bio-retention planters and trees to provide cooling, decrease runoff and reduce heat island effect.
